The check is to assess your risk of developing heart disease, stroke, kidney disease or diabetes. If there are any warning signs, then together we can do something about it. By taking early action, you can improve your health and prevent the onset of these conditions. There is good evidence for this.

Using our blood pressure testing service is simple, go along and speak to one of our Pharmacists and they’ll be happy to answer any questions you have. Our Pharmacists will take care of the rest. You don’t need an appointment and the blood pressure test shouldn’t take any longer than ten minutes. Once our Pharmacist have completed your test they’ll explain your results and give you any advice you need about high or low blood pressure, or how to maintain a healthy blood pressure and lifestyle

Why you should be screened for Chlamydia? Some STIs (also known as sexually transmitted diseases or STDs) do not show any symptoms. At least 75% of infected women and around half of infected men will not have any visible signs of chlamydia, although it can still cause unseen damage and lead to pelvic inflammatory disease and infertility. If eligible for free NHS chlamydia testing you can pick up a free home chlamydia test by coming to our Pharmacy. It’s available to men and women and you’re able to take the kit away with you so that you can take the test in privacy. When you’re ready, all you need to do is provide a urine sample in the container provided, or take a swab from the vagina. Once you’re done, return the test to our Pharmacy in the discreet packet provided. We’ll have your results back from the laboratory within 48 hours so we can put your mind at rest or get you started on the right course of treatment. Our Pharmacist will also be able to give you advice on any other issues around unprotected sex that may be worrying you, including STIs or emergency contraception (the ‘morning after’ pill ), and be more than happy to help if you need some advice about how to stay safe next time.

We offers the Electronic Prescription Service, which allows you to choose or “nominate” our pharmacy to get your medicines or appliances from. Your GP then sends your prescription electronically to us, this means: If you collect your repeat prescriptions from your GP you will not have to visit your GP practice to pick up your paper prescription, saving you time. You may not have to wait as long at the pharmacy as your repeat prescriptions could be prepared before you arrive.

If you’ve recently had sex without using contraception, or you think that the contraception you did use might have failed, you may decide you want to find out more about emergency contraception. If you act quickly (within 72 hours) emergency contraception can usually stop you getting pregnant. You can buy emergency contraception from our Pharmacy without a prescription. It is also available free on the NHS depending on age and other specified criteria. Before you receive your emergency contraception our Pharmacist will just need to ask you some brief questions to check your suitability, and to check that you’ve got all the support you need. If either yourself or someone you care for has problems remembering how or when to take a prescribed medication, we may be able to help with a compliance device. This is usually a cassette or card filled with one week’s supply of medicine, split into different times of the day for each day of the week. Please note, however, that such a device might not be suitable for all patients and potential candidates will need to be assessed before such an aid can be offered. We operate a personal monitoring and supervision service to those under treatment regimes for drug addiction. Clients are normally referred to the pharmacy from the local Drug Treatment Agencies Or Local surgery who provided this service. This is a discreet service that does not interfere with the normal operation of the pharmacy and does not pose any risk to other customers and patients. Those wishing to know more about this service should speak to the pharmacist.

This service is designed to address the needs of substance misusers who regularly require fresh, sterile hypodermic syringes and needles to sustain their addiction. It has been Introduced to protect the wider community from infectious diseases such as hepatitis which can be spread from contaminated injecting equipment. Once used, the syringes and needles are returned to the pharmacy in exchange for new ones.
